Remember when you turned 18 and how big of a deal it was. Well, “Happy Birthday” because 65 is the new 18.
Are you ready for Retirement? Ready for Medicare? Are you ready for a lot of headaches if you don’t know what you are doing? Yes, you read that right, retirement is not really all that it’s cracked up to be unless you are prepared and you know what you need to know.
I have been working with Senior for years. Here is a list of just 4 recommendations that will make your life 100 fold easier.
Here are 4 Tips to a Better Retirement
Find Trusted Advisers: You don’t know everything! Sorry for saying it that way but there is a reason why there are Insurance Agents, Financial Advisers, Tax Advisers and so on. They know more then you can just learn on YouTube or from your neighbor. Some decisions can cost you a lot of money, especially the ones concerning your health coverage. Find someone you trust so when you have questions you know where to turn.
Learn Medicare: You will deal with Medicare every year of the remainder of your life. It will help you keep your money in your bank. When someone gets sick, it can cost thousands of dollars if your Medicare coverage is not set up correctly. Every year new plans come out with better benefits that you can miss out on. The more you know the less likely you will be suckered into a plan that not best for you.
Don’t ask Why so much: What I mean by that is, I have a lot of clients that get way to frustrated when something goes wrong with for example their Social Security or other health plans or something like that. They want to know why it happened and who to blame.
Well, nobody cares, the person on the phone does not care, I don’t care. I don’t want sound mean but it already happened. The only thing that matters is what we need to do to fix it. Follow the steps to get it fixed and get used to the process. I can guarantee you it is not the last time something will go wrong.
Use the Perks & Discounts: Don’t be too proud to ask for senior discounts or specials. I have a way too many people who are too proud to ask for discounts. You can save thousands per year if you take advantage of senior discounts and promotions. 65 Is The New 18 and businesses love seniors. You guys have time and money to spend, so stretch it out and get the biggest bang for your buck.
Most of these tips might sound like common sense but I can tell you from experience they are NOT! A lot of people make there own life much more complicated and stressful than it has to be.
